NARGIS FAKHRI AFTER ROCKSTAR CAN NOW BE SEEN IN MADRAS CAFE WITH JOHN ABRAHAM

Almost two years have passed since the release of her debut big screen outing ROCKSTAR. Now that Nargis Fakhri is returning with John Abraham starrer MADRAS CAFE, one wonders how she looks back at the months gone by. Was it a period of anxiety, wait, euphoria, excitement or more?

'Two years? Wow, that's something; I never realised,' says Nargis in an animated tone, 'Well, the time just flew past by. After ROCKSTAR, it was all so overwhelming for me. I could never imagine or expect how my life could change so drastically. I spent quite some time contemplating whether I should really move to Mumbai for good.'

She did take the plunge though and while there was a waiting period involved before she signed her next, there were other activities related to the world of glamour that kept her occupied.

'I knew for sure that my life would change. I couldn't have been the same person as I was during ROCKSTAR. Meanwhile, I was engaged non-stop with script reading, advertisements, cover shoots, campaigns, shows and events. See, since I wasn't prepared as a person and as an actor, I had to educate myself. I took some Hindi classes as well. Everything that one can imagine, I prepared for. It was akin to going back to school.'

Meanwhile the very fact that she was being remembered and written about made her feel that she was doing something correct after all.

'Don't they say that any news is good news,' she laughs, 'If media was talking about me, it was fantastic. The fact that I was in there was a surprise for me too. Yes, some things written about me were untrue but then I can ignore that. Otherwise generally I took it all in a positive light. After all, if there are people out there who want to know more about it, it is good, isn't it?'

URVASHI SHARMA PREGNANT WITH HER FIRST CHILD

It was a moment of dual celebration for Sachin J Joshi as he completed the major portion of his film JACKPOT THE FULL JHOL and celebrated it by heralding his birthday. But what made the moment more precious was the fact that he was also a soon-to-be dad and his wife Raina Joshi nee Urvashi Sharma chose this occasion to let the world know this.

In fact, it was Raina who took this decision. We wanted it to be a simple thing that only the family was aware of for the first few months. I knew I had to await a surprise on my birthday, but the letter Raina wrote to me on a large cake was something very unexpected. I was so touched," says an emotional Sachiin.

Raina beams, "I was so happy to see Sachin happy. I wanted to convey my feelings that what he did for me matters always and I would be with him through thick and thin and this day would be always special for us. And thought, the writing on the cake would be the best. I am so happy he loved it."

SHAHRUKH'S "CHENNAI EXPRESS" RELEASING THIS "EID"

CHENNAI EXPRESS is going to be big. However 'how big' is the question that is making the rounds of trade, industry as well as the audience. While all sorts of numbers are being thrown around, the man of the moment, Shahrukh Khan, isn't making any statements in this regard. Of course he is promoting the film at all outlets but when it comes to making any proclamations, he is relatively quieter than ever before.

Is that the mid-40s syndrome when as an actor and a professional, he seem to have seen it and done a lot, if not all?

"I will tell you something. After my first 5-6 years in the industry, I started thinking of success very differently. When people think of success then they speak from an outsider point of view. From the point of view of a successful person, it is all very different. It is a whole lot of emotion that happens to very few people," says Shahrukh in a thoughtful tone.

He goes on to add, ''Of course finally the cliche is to work hard. See, I can't explain what success is. I just work. I don't sit and give lecture to my kids. It is a very strange place to be successful. People will have their own take on it. I feel happy if they understand it. I feel sad when they don't and can only say that 'arrey yaar, they haven't understood'. However I can't change them or their thoughts.''

No wonder, he has an entire different take on the film's definite entry into the 100 crore club and then the collections beyond.

'Well, if you are dreaming of numbers then why limit yourself to 100 or 200 crores? You may as well think of 5000 crores. That's how I see it. There is no point assigning a number against your success,' says Shahrukh before signing off.

AISHWARYA RAI BACHCHAN MAKING COMEBACK WITH ITEM SONG IN SANJAY LEELA BHANSALI'S "RAM LEELA"

The buzz in the market is that now Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is ready for a comeback and she has been sounded out by Sanjay Leela Bhansali to make it through an item song for his upcoming film RAM LEELA! Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has an organic link with Bhansali. Before she took the sabbatical for motherhood, it was Bhansali's film GUZAARISH in which she had acted. Besides, it was, as a matter of fact Bhansali, who really pushed her into the Big league with HUM DIL DE CHUKE SANAM, after which she never looked back. It was Bhansali again who pitted Ash against Madhuri Dixit in DEVDAS, where Ash held her ground with panache against Madhuri. No wonder Bhansali has been a sort of magic charm or catalyst for Ash whenever she needed a push to her career.

Coming back from a sabbatical an item song is perhaps the best way to revive one's presence amongst the heart of the fans. Ash after all has been the original item girl for Hindi cinema, when she made her appearance in BUNTY AUR BABLI with 'Kajrare' song, which set the trend for mainstream heroines to appear in item songs thenceforth to improve the visibility quotient of a film. Even a Madhuri Dixit also succumbed to it in YEH JAWAANI HAI DEEWANI with her ghagra song.

For Ash the catch for her could be that a Kajrare happened eight years ago and after Kajrare she did not do an item song. On the flip side, the positive point for her would be that, if she agrees to do the item song for RAM LEELA, she can rest assured that the song would be trail blazing. After all, nobody picturises a song and conceptualizes it in the manner in which Sanjay Leela Bhansali does it. For Deepika Padukone it would be an interesting connection that she would be associated with two such films where biggies of Hindi cinema would have done an item number as Madhuri did it for YJHD and Ash could do it for RAM LEELA.

HRITHIK & KAREENA IN KARAN JOHAR'S "SHUDDHI"

There have been speculations about the star cast of "SHUDDHI" for a long time now. Finally Hrithik and Kareena have been finalized for the role.

The Director-Producer duo seems to be on a winning track after the huge success of AGNEEPATH, once again they both are back with SHUDDHI.

Says Karan Johar, "I'm excited to see Hrithik and Kareena back after 12 years."

Karan Johar says, "When Karan (Malhotra) came to me with SHUDDHI, his desire was to cast Hrithik and Kareena. I spoke to both of them and they were happy to be on board. The film is an intense love story and because it has a reincarnation theme, he has written a script that is dramatic and outstanding. Also, such a theme requires actors who can bring the desired intensity. To me, it is really an important casting. But I don't look at it as a coup. Kareena is beautiful, talented and a powerhouse performer. And Hrithik, well, what can I say? He can melt a nation just with his eyes."

UNTOLD FACTS OF AMITABH AND JAYA'S MARRIAGE

Amitabh Bachchan in a recent tweet has revealed that his movie ABHIMAAN which was released on 27 July 1973, today completed 40 years. Interestingly he also revealed that his marriage with Jaya Bhaduri too completes 40 years this year. The two had tied the nuptial knot on June 3, 1973.

Few may know that ABHIMAAN was inspired by the real life story of playback singer Kishore Kumar and his first wife Ruma Ghosh, who was a Bengal actress and a singer. Later ego hassles between the two lead to their divorce. Hence if you have seen the movie then note Amitabh Bachchan's name is intentionally called Subir Kumar akin to Kishore Kumar.

Coming to the marriage of Amitabh and Jaya, you many know that Jaya Bhaduri was quite attached to Hrishikesh Mukherjee as it was Hrishikeshdaa who gave her maiden break in Bollywood with Guddi. Later the duo shared a great understanding and both worked together in many movies like ABHIMAAN, CHUPKE CHUPKE, MILI, etc. In fact Jaya regarded Hrishikesh Mukherjee like his father. Hence during the making of ABHIMAAN when Amitabh and Jaya secretly decided to tie the nuptial knot, Hrishikesh Mukherjee was one among the selected few who attended the secret wedding. But what is interesting is that Hrishikesh Mukherjee attended the wedding not from Jaya's side, instead he was the guest from Amitabh's side! You may ask how?

Well it so happened when Amitabh and Jaya were finalizing the list of invitees to their wedding Jaya took Hrishikeshdaa's presence for granted as she knew he will obviously be present. On the contrary, Amitabh Bachchan first intimated Hrishikeshdaa about their marriage and requested him to be present to bless them on the wedding day.

Hence when Jaya Bhaduri broke the suspense to Hrishikeshdaa about her marriage and invited him for the marriage Hrishikeshdaa said, "Sorry, I cannot attend your marriage as I have committed myself to another wedding of my close friend."

A depressed Jaya revolted, "You cannot do that. You are like my father and without your presence how I merry can?" Hrishikeshdaa broke into laughter and said, "Arre pagli ... Amit ne mujhe pehle hi invite kiya hai... Isliye ab mein Amit ke taraf se teri shadi mein Aangoonga! "

Hearing this Jaya's wiped her tears and hugged Hrishikeshdaa.

TODAY, BOLLYWOOD SHAHENSHAH, AMITABH TURNS 69

TODAY, Bollywood's mega star AMITABH BACHCHAN, TURNED 69.

Despite completing 40 years in Indian film industry Bollywood, the ageing actor is not the one to rest on his laurels. He is busy shooting for Indian film director Ram Gopal Varma's 'Department', despite getting injured on the sets of the film.

He is also hosting the season 5 of 'Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC)' an Indian game show based on the UK game show 'Who Wants to Be a Millionaire' on Sony TV.

"One of the best ways to bring in birthdays is to be working at what you need to be working on...I work because of I need to ....love!!," Bachchan said.

The actor returned home at midnight after shooting for the diwali episodes of KBC and said he could just make it home in time for the clock to strike 12 and for the family to wish him. "The greatest joys of life are in the simple wishes," he said.

Immediately afterwards, he settled to interact with fans from all over the world on his blog and micro-blogging site twitter.

"It is past midnight! It is my birthday today! It is another year gone by! It is stepping in to the 70th year for me! Thank you! Have just been released from the clutches of work form KBC... and here to thank you all for the love and affection you shower!!

"They ask me what I wish for my birthday .. why only on the birthday, it should be everyday... I wish another day to pass in peace ! Thank you all once again for all the Birthday wishes ... I am so humbled and filled with pride .. you make it all happen .. my love," he said.

On his blog, Bachchan recalled that he was born in a small private maternity outfit run by a missionary Dr Brar, in the most-crowded market area of northern Indian state of Allahabad.

"I was brought home by my parents in the best possible transport machinery that they could afford – a tonga! (horse-driven cart) Wrapped in a 'gudari', I still refer to many that I am a 'gudari ka lal' – a human that is affiliated with the cheapest form of clothing. I loved being in that form and still love
it.
"There is a certain sense of attachment every time I come in close contact with people and circumstances that narrate to me stories of the time," he wrote.

"As I step into the 70's unabashedly, I need to thank several of those that I feel were the ones that seemed distressed with the number of my age. But no they are not so!

When they speak of age and involvement, why must we only look upon the aged, onto those that show the ravishes of time and the hunger of recognition. I would imagine that we must let the world be as it is and allow whatever shape it desires to take vis-a-vis individuals," he wrote.

Bachchan gained popularity in the early 1970s as the 'angry young man' of Hindi cinema, with films like 'Agneepath', 'Trishul', 'Deewar', 'Zanjeer'.

Year 2011 saw Bachchan rekindle his 'angry young man' image, that he is best known for, in 'Bbuddha Hoga Terra Baap'.

But on the personal front, he is set to become a grandfather again, as son Abhishek and daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai are expecting their first child.

His other Indian film, 'Aarakshan' that hit the screens this year got mired into controversy due to its subject – 'reservation'.

Bachchan even turned 'item boy' for a song titled 'Go Meera'. He was seen in a colourful and flamboyant avatar, dancing to his own golden hits like --'Khaiyeke Paan Banaras Wala', 'Pag ghunghroo baandh Meera naachi thi', 'Rang Barse', 'Sara Zamana' among others.

"All these years, I have been desperately waiting to be called an item boy.

Please call me that. I feel with this song, my wish has come true...and I am satisfied," Bachchan had said.

A few months back, Bachchan broke the news of his Indian actress and daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai expecting a baby.

"And so to becoming a Dada! The excitement and the joy of the first Bachchan coming after my brother and me. Nana I was, but now Dada!!," he had said on a social networking site.

The actor had said that he felt the grandchild would bring the child in him

BOLLYWOOD WISHES KISHORE KUMAR, A VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY

Though he is no more between us today but his songs will always thrive in the hearts of many. Abhas Kumar Ganguly, popularly known as Kishore Kumar left behind a musical legacy comprising thousands of hit Bollywood numbers. Today on his 83rd birthday, we will pay tribute to the legendary singer, whose voice is still the favourite of youngsters.

He was born on August 4, 1929 into Ganguly family in Khandwa, Madhya Pradesh. He was the son of Kunjalal Ganguly (Gangopadhyay), who was a lawyer and Gouri Devi. Kishore Kumar was the youngest of the four siblings, Ashok Kumar, Sati Devi and Anoop Kumar. Music composer Bappi Lahiri is also related to Kishore Kumar to his mother's side.

In an interview, Kishore's brother Ashok Kumar had revealed that when the legendary singer was 10 years old, his voice was very coarse grating but he loved singing. One day, when his mother was chopping vegetables, he rushed in such a speed that his leg banged into the chopper, Kishore suffered immense pain and cried nonstop for almost 20 hours daily continuously for a month; this crying ultimately cleared his voice and results to a ultimate singer of the Bollywood which created history. Ashok Kumar entered Bollywood when Kishore was a child later Anoop Kumar also ventured into cinema.

The singer also expressed his desire to join his brothers in Hindi film industry. He became a fan of singer-actor Kundan Lal Sehgal, whom he considered his guru, and tried to follow Sehgal's singing style. Abhas Kumar changed his name to Kishore Kumar and started his career as a chorus singer at Bombay Talkies, where his brother worked.

Kishore Kumar's first movie as an actor was Shikari (1946), in which Ashok Kumar played the lead role. Music director Khemchand Prakash gave him a chance to sing Marne Ki Duayein Kyun Mangu for the film Ziddi (1948).

Kishore Kumar was offered many roles after this but he was not serious about a film career as he was interested in singing. But Ashok Kumar wanted him to be an actor like him.
