SALMAN KHAN IN "DABAANG"

There has always been a lot of hype and wait for Salman Khan films and his fans eagerly wait to see the favorite star on screen. Dabaang is the upcoming film producer by Salman’s brother Arbaaz Khan.


Producer, Arbaaz Khan doesn’t deny the fact that a lot of Salman’s inputs were incorporated into Dabangg even after the film was completed. Arbaaz also said that,. “Salman is a very experienced superstar. This happens to be his brother’s production. He is the star of the film. I considered every suggestion from Salman and incorporated them accordingly. Yes, "Wanted" was his big action release in 2009. We want Dabangg to be his bigger action movie in 2010."



The star cast of Dabaang includes Sonakshi Sinha, the daughter of Shatrughan Sinha who is making her debut in Hindi films with the movie. The director of Dabaang is Abhinav Kashyap and the story of the film is set in Uttar Pradesh. The film targets the many loopholes that our corrupt system has and revolves much around a corrupt cop played by Salman Khan. His fans will see Salman Khan with a moustache and a police uniform as the star plays the role of a cop in the movie Dabaang. But this time the actor wears negative shades to his role and depicts the character of a corrupt policeman in the film.

Dabaang is one more action packed thriller by Salman Khan and this time the actor has reportedly taken keen interest in many of the film’s aspects hugely welcomed by brother Arbaaz Khan . Arbaaz was quoted saying, “In Dabaang we welcome Salman’s inputs warmly. He has added considerably to the film’s overall mood and feeling, especially in the action scenes.”

KATIE HOLMES WITH TOM CRUISE : "THE ROMANTICS"

The Hollywood power couple, Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise posed for pictures outside the AMC Loews 19th Street East 6 theater venue before strolling through the arrivals carpet en route to the night’s special preview of Katie’s new flick.

The 31 years old actress, Katie Holmes with her husband, Tom Cruise hit the red carpet together at The Cinema Society’s screening of her new film, The Romantics, in New York City.

Earlier in the day Miss Holmes made stops to “Live with Regis and Kelly” and the “Late Show with David Letterman” while also partaking in a press conference.

Talking about how romantic and supportive her “Top Gun” hubby happens to be, Katie dished, “My husband has red roses for me everywhere I go and whenever we travel.”

As for “The Romantics”, the Galt Niederhoffer directed film co-stars Josh Duhamel and Anna Paquin, with a release date set for this Friday, September 10th.

AISHWARYA RAI TURNS SMOKER IN "GUZAARISH"

While smoking is not entirely prohibited in our films, but Aishwarya Rai plays a nurse in the film. A health worker shown smoking may not be a good start for the film.


According to source, "Aishwarya is not really smoking in Guzaarish. It's a very cute, funny and a very beautiful sequence where she is trying to smoke when she doesn't know how to. Aishwarya has never been shown smoking on screen. But it's not a sequence propagating smoking. Everyone who has seen it so far has reacted very positively to it."

WISHING RISHI KAPOOR, A VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY

We all wish Rishi Kapoor, a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY. Today he is 61 years old. He was born in 4th September 1949. He worked as an actor, film producer and director. He was born in Mumbai, Kapoor is the second son of famous film director and star Raj Kapoor.

His brothers are well-known actors: Randhir Kapoor and Rajiv Kapoor. He is father of actor Ranbir Kapoor and Riddhima Kapoor. Rishi is the paternal uncle of today's actresses Karisma Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor. He is of Punjabi Hindu Khatri origin.

HIS CAREER:-

Rishi Kapoor first debuted in his father's 1970 film Mera Naam Joker (My Name is Joker), playing his father's role as a child. Rishi Kapoor had his first lead role opposite Dimple Kapadia in the popular 1973 film Bobby which became an instant hit with youngsters. He has since then appeared in hundreds of movies. He played the lead role romancing young heroines till the year 2000 with the delayed release of Karobaar: The Business of Love. He moved on to supporting roles with Hum Tum (2004) and Fanaa (2006). He also directed a film Aa Ab Laut Chalen in 1998 starring Rajesh Khanna, Aishwarya Rai, Akshaye Khanna, Kader Khan, Paresh Rawal and Jaspal Bhatti. Recently he appeared in Namaste London and an English-language film titled Don't Stop Dreaming which was directed by his cousin Aditya Raj Kapoor (son of Rishi's uncle Shammi Kapoor). He acted with the veteran actor Kamal Haasan in Saagar which was officially sent to the Oscars.

PERSONAL LIFE:-

Rishi Kapoor became engaged to Neetu Singh, with whom he had several hit movies, on 13 April 1979 and then married her in 1980. They have two children: Ranbir Kapoor, who is also an actor, and Ridhima Kapoor.

SALMAN AND KATRINA IN AN ITEM NUMBER

Bollywood’s star couple Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif will be seen together in an item song in Farah Khan’s upcoming movie ‘Tees Maar Khan’.

Katrina was left in anguish when Salman made a public announcement of their separation. Much drama followed after this but both of them are apparently trying to patch up for the sake of the movie as both of them agreed to share screen space for the item number. The actress was seemingly finding it tough to recover from the Salman Khan episode so the news of doing item number with him, comes as a great surprise to many. The item number will also see the lead hero Akshay Kumar but the main attraction will definitely be the pairing of Salman and Kat.

Earlier, there was a buzz of Salman Khan doing item number for buddy Farah’s film but now it has been confirmed officially. Well, it will be surely a shock for Shah Rukh Khan, who has been known to be a very close friend of Farah. The choreographer turned director has turned friend to SRK’s all time rival and even signed him for an item number in her movie. According to a source, Salman readily agreed to do the item number when Farah offered him this.

Akshay and Salman will be seen in the opening part of the item song and Katrina will be joining them after a minute. The source added that there will be some frames in which only Salman will be shown with Katrina. It will definitely incite interest among the audience!

JESSICA ALBA PREMIERES "MACHETE" IN VENICE

While promoting her upcoming movie overseas, Jessica Alba attended the “Machete” premiere during the 67th Venice Film Festival in Venice, Italy.

Held at the Sala Grande Palazzo Del Cinema, the “Sin City” star dazzled as she joined director Robert Rodriguez and co-star Danny Trejo on the red carpet.

Due out in theaters on September 3, Jess recently told of the film, "It's exciting, for us as artists. Usually, we?re just entertaining and, most of the time, everything is just pure, commercial entertainment.”

She adds, “Especially in Hollywood, there isn't a whole lot of emphasis on much else. Film is used, in other places in the world, for political messages, and its an art, in all different forms. Some people don't have a voice, and their government keeps them from having a voice. Knowing that we can participate in something that is socially and politically relevant, even in one of the biggest pop culture makers of the world, Hollywood, that's awesome."

VIDYA BALAN ONCE AGAIN WITH PRADEEP SARKAR

Bollywood actress Vidya Balan, who started her career with Pradeep Sarkar’s movie Parineeta in 2005, had done several films all these years. She has received critical acclaims for many of them and some bombed badly at the box office. But, she did not get a chance to work with Sarkar, who made her popular with her film "Parineeta".

However, the actress has now got the chance to work with her mentor once again after five long years. The duo shot together for an hair oil ad. Vidya admitted that she felt nervous and preferred to have a rehearsal before going for the first take. She said that it has been long time she had not worked with “dada’ (Sarkar) and was wondering if they can connect the same way as they did during Parineeta. Vidya said that she could understand what Pradip wanted even before he could speak out and thankfully she re-discovered the same chemistry once again.

According to Vidya, it was just like cycling; one cannot forget it once u have learnt it. The camera was being handled by the cinematographer N Nataraja Subramaniam, who was worked in Parineeta so it was like a house on fire for them.

On the other hand, the director Pradip Sarkar said that Vidya had grown up as an actress and he would love to work with her again. There is a report that Sarkar wants to make a costume drama with the actress.
However, viewers will have to wait and watch to see Vidya creating that magic with Pradeep Sarkar all over again!

MICHAEL DOUGLAS FIGHTING WITH THROAT CANCER

Hollywood celebrity Michael Douglas, the 65 year old actor has a throat tumor and he will under go eight weeks of radiation and chemotherapy.

Douglas revealed that he was diagnosed three weeks ago though he'd complained of a sore throat at one point earlier this year. Testing at the time didn't find a cause for the pain. When he returned to the doctor after a summer of traveling with his wife Catherine Zeta-Jones and their two kids Dylan Michael and Carys Zeta, he was diagnosed with stage-four cancer, "which is intense, and so they've had to go at it," he said


Douglas has won three Golden Globes and two Academy Awards, first as producer of 1975's Best Picture, 'One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest' and as Best Actor in 1987 for his role in 'Wall Street.' Douglas received the AFI Life Achievement Award in 2009.

DIA MIRZA TURNS PRODUCER

Actress Dia Mirza is going to join the bandwagon of actor turned producer. She debuted with the movie ‘Rehna Hai Tere Dil Mein’ in 2001 opposite Madhavan and became a star overnight, although the movie did not do well at the box office.

The actress confirmed about turning producer very soon. She said that the announcement may come out by next week as she would have locked her script by then. Dia might be seen playing the role in her production venture opposite Zayed Khan. The actress is interested in making biopics. She said that the real life stories inspire her and the personalities that attract her are Bharat Natyam dancer Rukmani Devi, painter Amrita Shergill and freedom fighter Sarojini Naidu.

One of her much waited films titled ‘Johnny Mastana’ has been waiting to be released for a year. The 28 year actress said that the viewers can see her best performance till date in ‘Johnny Mastana’. She also added that the only reason of the delay is due to the tussle of rights between Twentieth Century Fox and UTV.



“I’ve really worked hard on the films in last three years, but they failed. I don’t want any more failures,” added Dia.

JESSICA ALBA : LOVELY AT THE LATE SHOW

Pushing forth with her full day of promotions, Jessica Alba was out for an appearance on the “Late Show with David Letterman” at the Ed Sullivan Theater in Manhattan, New York.

Changing out of her all-black ensemble to don a much lighter multicolored summer dress with velvet blue heels, the “Good Luck Chuck” cutie happily posed for pictures and waved to fans ahead of the show taping.

And while she plays a femme fatale named Sartana in her upcoming movie “Machete” – which hits theaters on September 3rd – Miss Alba recently told FOX Pop Tarts that she hopes to land a few more family-friendly jobs.

The 29-year-old tells Tarts, “I think there is a nice balance (between “family friendly” and more adult films) but it would be fun to do more films that my daughter can see. I like finding a character who finds herself, finds strengths and actually uses her damn stilettos (for a purpose) instead of just killing her feet.”

TRISHA IN A DRUG SCANDAL

South Indian actress Trisha Krishnan, who made her Bollywood debut with Akshay Kumar-starrer 'Khatta Meetha', is angry after her name was dragged in a drug scandal and thinks it's an attempt to tarnish her image.

A recent report on a Telugu channel claimed that she is into drug abuse and is closely associated with a drug peddler from Nigeria. Trisha, on the other hand, believes that she is being dragged into this controversy only because she is a good friend of Sidney Sladen, a designer of African origin, whom the channel is accusing of being a Nigerian drug dealer.

'I was angry. This is not just a harmless rumour. The first thing I did was to get my lawyer to issue statements to all the TV channels. I've taken legal action against the channel which put this out. There is not an element of truth in it. It's strange where this story came from. I haven't been to Hyderabad for a year now. I was told this peddler knows my number. But come on, everyone knows my number,' the pretty actress said.

Trisha believes this incident is an attempt to malign her in the Telugu film industry. "The only problem is you can't pinpoint such a thing to any one source. But yes, it seems to have been done to tarnish my image. Luckily, I've got a lot of support in Hyderabad, even from the authorities."

CLAIRE DANES WINS "2010 EMMY" FOR BEST LEAD ACTRESS

Bringing in names such as Ashley Judd, Morgan Freeman and Harry Connick, Jr., a synopsis via The Hollywood Reporter tells, “Dolphin is inspired by the true story of a dolphin named Winter who was rescued off the Florida coast and taken in by the Clearwater Marine Aquarium. The movie version centers on a boy who befriends an injured dolphin who lost her tail in a crab trap. Through their bond and friendship, the boy motivates everyone around him to help save the dolphin by creating a prosthetic appendage to replace the dolphin’s tail. The marine mammal’s strong survival instincts become an inspiration to people with special needs throughout the world.”
