The sixth venture of Aamir Khan Productions is a mass grosser in India. It opened with 7.15 crore on Friday, 1st July. Saturday collections went up to 8.50 crore and increased to 10.75 crore on Sunday, giving a sum total of 26.4 crore business only over the weekend. With films opening to merely 10% to 40% maximum in the recent past, this seems like a new wave that has hit the Indian cinema.
The overall cost of the film is 24 crore which includes production, print and publicity as well. So, recovering is already done and the business in the coming days will also be something to watch out for given the terrific start of the film and also the revenue it is expected to generate from non-theatrical avenues. It opened across 1200 screens with major occupancy in multiplexes across the country.

EARLY LIFE:-
Khan was born to Anil Pal,a Bengali Indian, and Nuzhat Khan in Wisconsin, USA.His father works as a consultant at LinkedIn in Silicon Valley. His parents divorced when he was one and a half years old and he replaced his surname Pal with Khan.He is the nephew of actor Aamir Khan, director Mansoor Khan and the grandson of Nasir Hussain, a noted director and producer. In India, he studied at Bombay Scottish School but left Scottish after standard 4 and moved to a boarding school in Ooty.
CAREER:-
Khan made appearances as a child artist in his uncle Aamir's films, Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak (1988) and Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander (1992). Both times he played the role of a young Aamir Khan. He aspired to be a director, as that was his original plan before he entered Bollywood as an actor. Khan joined Kishore Namit Kapoor's Acting Institute in Mumbai.
Khan made his debut as a lead actor in the 2008 film Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Na directed by Abbas Tyrewala, produced by Aamir Khan and Mansoor Khan and co-starring Genelia D'Souza. The film received rave reviews from critics and proved to be one of the biggest hits of the year.Khan was furthermore nominated for Best Male Debut at the 54th Filmfare Awards and won it along with Farhan Akhtar.
His next movie was Kidnap with Sanjay Dutt and Minissha Lamba, where he played a negative role. The movie flopped at the box office, attributed by critics to its poorly executed direction. However, Khan's performance was appreciated and earned him an IIFA Award nomination in 2009. Khan made his next appearance in the action film, Luck with Shruti Haasan and Sanjay Dutt.
In 2010, he appeared in I Hate Luv Storys, directed by Punit Malhotra and produced by Karan Johar. The film went on to become a hit at the box office.His forthcoming films include, Delhi Belly, an English-language comedy directed by Abhinay Deo, and Break Ke Baad directed by Danish Aslam and produced by Kunal Kohli. He will also be playing a cameo in the Telugu film, Badhrinaadh
Khan co-hosted the 54th Filmfare Awards alongside Ranbir Kapoor. Along with his uncle Aamir Khan, he appeared on the popular television show Dus Ka Dum hosted by Salman Khan.He also appeared on the show, Tere Mere Beach Mein along with Kareena Kapoor.In 2010, he made an appearance on the show Koffee with Karan alongside Ranbir Kapoor.
PERSONAL LIFE:-
Khan became engaged to his long-time girlfriend, Avantika Malik, on 16 January 2010 in the farm house of Avantika's family in Karjat near Navi Mumbai.The couple married on January 10, 2011 at a private civil ceremony at Aamir Khan's residence at Pali Hill
Bollywood actor Imran Khan has taken a surprise decision that he is going to to tie knot with his fiancee Avantika Malik in January 2011. The actor will be marrying in the court and will not go for a traditional Muslim wedding.
According to sources, the couple is planning their marriage in Thailand in January 2011, just one year after they got engaged and everything has been finalized and the wedding will be a union of friends and relatives.
If all goes well, Imran and Avantika will get married in Thailand at an exclusive palatial resort near Koh Samui, that will also house the guests who will fly from Mumbai and elsewhere for the grand wedding.
Avantika, daughter of TV18?s head honcho, Vandana Mallik met Imran at a social event six years ago and since then have become inseparable. Last year on January 16, they exchanged rings at a farmhouse owned by Avatika’s family in Karjat. Their engagement was a family affair attended by the Khan clan including Aamir Khan and his wife Kiran Rao.
As per insiders, Imran is wrapping up his work for his wedding as he wants to enjoy the grand day. He is busy winding up all his professional commitments or at least adjusts the dates in such a manner so that he can devote sometime to his wedding preparations.
Reportedly, Imran has requested filmmaker Karan Johar to adjust the date of ‘Short Term Shaadi’ with Kareena Kapoor.
