SUNNY WANTS TO RESUME HIS RIVALRY WITH SHAHRUKH

Plans are being formed up to release Sunny Deol's "I LOVE NEW YEAR" on Christmas eve. So far so good. The only hitch (and a big one at that) is that Shahrukh Khan's DON 2 is slated to arrive on the same day i.e. 23rd December. Since there is a back story behind this decision, it makes the clash all the more interesting.

For the uninitiated, it was more than a decade and a half ago when things soured between Sunny and Shahrukh. For Yash Chopra's psychological dramatic thriller DARR, Sunny was the chosen one as the lead hero while Shahrukh was to play a quintessential villain. However as the film progressed, so impressed was Chopra Sr. with Shahrukh that the BAAZIGAR boy ended up being a hero who went away with all the sympathies while Sunny's presence seemed like a cameo.

'Ever since then Sunny had soured all relationships with Chopras and Shahrukh,' continues the source, 'So when an opportunity came to hit back where it hurt the most, Sunny isn't shying away and has now given a go-ahead for his romantic comedy to take on Shahrukh's thriller.'
